RFU Leadership Academy
Leadership Academy 2016/17
Leadership is of great importance when it comes to sport, the necessity of a leader is invaluable to a club or team. Since starting as a pilot in the Midlands in 2005 the RFU have recognised the importance of the games off field leader’s by supporting them through the RFU Leadership Academy.
The RFU Leadership Academy runs on a two year cycle based on Constituent Body areas, with over 160 candidates advancing their Leadership skills this season. It has been designed to give new or aspiring rugby leaders a solid foundation for their development with units covering a variety of topics from leadership styles, motivating teams to planning change.
It would be appreciated if you could start working with the RFU to organise a Leadership Academy in your Constituent Body area in the 2016/17 season. This will be covering Leicestershire RFU & East Midlands RFU
The support required from your Constituent Body is as follows:
• Identification & recruitment of mentors (approx. 1 per 5-6 candidates)
• Recruitment of candidates (General send outs & targeted) (Minimum numbers = 12 for a whole Academy)
• CB Officer(s) deliver with the local RDO the ‘Understanding the Rugby Landscape and the Support’ available session (December evening)
• Consider reimbursing candidates a % of the cost of the course if candidates complete the Academy.
